« on: 16 April 2010, 11:34:27 »

it's the same oil for both boxes - the red Auto Transmission Fluid.

diff oil on the diff, tho.

it does give the figures in the driver's handbook

Nah its not.

DexIII in the auto box

80-90 hypoid for the diff (although I rate BOA90LS and the LSD aditive seems to help the seals last longer)

And the gear box is a fully synth gear oil...the viscosity of which escapes me at the moment

I need to check really, but I was fairly sure that the manuals use ATF

still, I could be coasting towards a "look it up before opening gob" moment....!

Lol, I know some Vx manuals do but, the Omega ZF derivative is a gear oil of SAE75W-85 API GL4 spec

The getrag units used on earlier opel/Vx rear wheel platforms were ATF from memory

Just digging further.

Although the Senator and Omega share the same gearbox number in the form of R25 and R28.....they appear to be different boxes.

Further digging shows that they even have a different oil quantity and casing.

Some years ago I found a paper on them and the information sudgested that the box was a ZF unit made under license.

TIS makes reference to the following:

The use of the modified R 25/ R 28 manual transmission in the Omega - B has lead to the introduction of a new high temperature transmission fluid.

Quality  SAE 80 Kluber - 1.2 litres
