water leak

out in the smeggie today and it developed a water leak
from what i can see there is some plumbing on the left hand side of the motor looking from the front but at the rear of the engine if that makes any sense there is something there that has a kind of cap on it with a few hoses connecting to it anyone know what that thingy is thanks in advance
2002 2.2 cd petrol >:(

Sounds very much like the Heater By-pass Valve, about £30/£35 from Vauxhall + a box of plasters for your hands afterwards.  :y  :y
