Brake switch removal

Just for my sanity, as I've done it loads of times before, but Sammy may come out in a while...


Press break pedal, pull red part of plunger out as far as it will come, unclip switch.

Correct?

Doesn't it just clip to a bracket on the column? Your new switch will give you an idea ..... won't it? :-/
I know I didn't set it correctly to start with & so didn't have cruise unless I wedged my foot under the throttle, but a quick fettle sorted it

maybe a little light bulb needs to glow a bit brighter in the driver's  footwell somewhere in the midlands so you can see to remove your brake switch!!  ;)  ;)  ;)

but then the brake switch would only be fit for the bin!  ;D  ;D  :y

Wedge the brake pedal down with a bit of wood against the dash or seat.
Pull the plunger fully out.
Pull the locking sleeve fully out.
Press in both latches and switch should come out easily.

If the latches seem stiff then you havnt got the plunger or sleeve fully out.....usually leads to broken switch.

Its a white bit isnt it.....or is that the plunger....cant remember, its been a while.

Either way, you pull the plunger out and then the locking tab

The grey plunger has to be pulled fully out....its on a ratchet for the auto-adjust so pull it out till it stops. Then pull out the red lock sleeve, it this sleeve which stops the retaining latches being pressed in.

Seen various colours in use but the design was always the same.
