Rear tailgate spoiler for omega estate
« on: 18 April 2010, 13:16:05 »

How to fit a rear tailgate spoiler?
I have a 1997 Omega 2.5TD Estate GLS.I have bought a second hand Irmscher Omega 'B' spoiler.Sprayed it to the correct colour & started to fit it.I drilled the holes to take the 2 outer studs. When it is lowered into position the curvature of it is wrong! There is more than a 1/2" gap between the centre of it & the tailgate. It is too solid to force down.
I would be grateful for any help with the problem.

Been there - done that! :'(

Best to turn the spoiler over, and make a paper template of the spoiler-to-tailgate mating face.
Then position the template onto the tailgate and mark/drill the holes.

You'll also need to drill some fairly large-ish holes from inside the tailgate, so that you can get a deep-drive socket onto the securing nuts. Once you've got the spoiler sitting correctly, use Sikaflex to seal it.

Cheers Sethsmate,
I was having problems working it out too, i had made a template but found that i couldn't get to fit the nuts if i drilled the holes where the template said they should be and i didn't want to start drilling holes willy nilly  :y
