sounds like manifold blowing , but...
« on: 05 April 2010, 19:23:49 »

hi still enjoying omega moments , great fun when u beat honda typre r's , but all seems not well , when u start the car from cold is fine , but when it switches over , valve of somekind opens ? , it sounds like the nearside exhaust manifold is blowing , but having listened to it this afternoon the 'blowing' seems to be coming from under the battery area ???? , whats going on , ive listened to the engine next to manifolds , well as close as can get and no problem the blow is driving me round the twist ,.

thanks

The idea is that it heats the cats up a little quicker and allows the engine to meet the emmisions pass for new cars

Its not tested at MOt and adds no value so get rid

No need to crawl about on the floor scraping the skin off your knuckles, you can pull the 50A fuse (under bonnet fusebox) which will disable the SAI pump.

Hi, is it only the V6s that have the air injection pump or is it on the 2.2 also?

Not fitted to 2.2, 2.6 or 3.2....the 2.0 did have it though

That's a shame since mine makes a clatter for the first ten seconds on startup that i thought was the sai pump but i never got round to unplugging it. I'm a bit puzzled know since mine doesn't have one!

Have you taken a look at the exhaust manifold.
The reason, mine makes a racket on cold starts.
I have a new manifold ready to be fitted, because mines cracked.
Read about quite a few of these on the 2.2 cracking just recently :(

Hello,
as mine also is making an awful noise on start up, that akin to a hovercraft inflating just wondering is the 50amp fuse just for this pump alone and is it the only 50amp fuse in there also will it affect the immisions. any help gladly recieved cheers, Neil
