In mainland UK its the car hooked to a pound, £500 minimum plus daily storage before release, then the last 3 years possible/probable consumption calculated and duty payable on that volume thereafter.  As I recall.....    ;)

But mine is petrol, so not talking from experience!   ;)   ;D

DON'T DO IT!

Bloke here in work ran his landy on it, got dipped, and fined £7500......they reckoned he had been using it for the last three years, and calculated the duty lost.
He could'nt put up any kind of acceptable defence, and is still paying it off three years later at £20 a week.

Not good.

Really isn't worth it unless you are purely looking at off road usage..

If you want to save the money, look at making your own Bio...  Plenty of plans on the net and all you need is a couple of oil drums and a storage drum.  UK ruling is you can use 1000 litres per year tax free (Home Brew), but, you should be using an approved generator for it...

Last time i was in Kildare they were dipping tanks in Clane and my cousin was pulled over. No probs as was on the proper stuff but he said  "Was only after being offered it last week,jaysus,wouldn`t  i of looked a right 'dangle berries' be the fook!

now & then the police (to stop you) v.o.s.a (to check your vehicle) & the customs checking the fuel. lv,e been checked twice in recent times. luckily iv,e never been tempted to use red.  :)

Might be an academic question because the EU has advanced plans for phasing it out. Don't know the date but the process will be that farmers and other registered users will get a rebate on ordinary pump diesel. The snag is that the minimum will hit a lot of small users.

Are there any OOFers that run a 2.5Td on home brew bio fuel?

I'm interested also, have succesfully run an Orion and a Xantia TD on Diesel & Rapeseed oil mix, % dependant on time of year. Can't find any users with this engine and the Omega fueling system though. Particularly concerned about the lift pump.
