Need new rears on my Omega Elite. Has some cheap (arrowstar?) 235/17/45 on currently which are well worn (didn't last long either, on car when I bought them tho).

Thinking Pirelli P-Zero rosso or Dunlop sp sports? These look reasonable and at OK prices.

Don't really want to spend much more than £200 (both, not each!) or so fitted but if anyone has any good recommendations (cheaper would be nice ), then fire away.

Not after "ultimate" grip or sportyness, just a good all round tyre, good ride, good wet behaviour etc.. Had the Dunlops on my old A6 and liked them but that's not to say they work well on the Omega.

I would never ever buy the Pirelli P-Zero rosso again and put them on my Omega, just taken 4 off they gave me the worse tramling I have ever had on a car, just fitted 4 Continental Contact Sport 3's totally different car, now nice to drive...

I think Khumho KU31 at about 80 quid is a good tyre on the Omega.  Just put two on my Elite and had several previously.

Like the idea of the Dunlops but I hear they are a noisy tyre?

How well do the Kumho's fare?

Any others I should consider? GY Eagle F1 seem reasonably priced...

I always had Michelin Primacy HP's when I had 17s, anyway went on to Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric when I changed to 18's, due to the cost of Michelin's at 18". And I must say I've found the Gooyear's very good so if the price is Ok, in your place I'd go for it

What are the Pirelli P6000's like.

Bought a set of Elite wheels with tryes on from Willyboy (Bless him) and allthough the tyres are worn they are still legal, so with my wish bone bush needing doing my current tyres are wearing on the insides but are still legal, so dug a couple of them out of the garage in case they are required.

Michelin Primacy Pilot for me! No intention of changing.
Shop around and you can find them at around what you want to pay, or maybe just a little over.
All I ever use now and they have done all I have ever asked of them and never failed me.
Can't afford a lot? Have you tried part worns? You can pick up 50%ers for about 30 quids each fitted in Leicester.

The problem with tyre "reviews" on the net is that the same tyre may be great on one car but poor on another. Be good if there was a section/wiki on this site with people's Omega version and their tyre choice/review.

reviews are personal imo.. I've read thousands of them.. And most of them not objective..The only objective result comes from the tests.. They measure dry braking , dry curve g, wet braking , wet curve g..  and timings around a track..

comfort and wear are also different subjects and dependant on driver and style..

eagle f1 of course better than the list but not sure they are cheap..

but there is a rule for tires.. and never seen an exception, tire shops never sell high quality rubber cheaply..

find me a place where they sell contis, potenza's or pilot sports cheap I'll buy now..

On my Honda and other cars, I've often used Event Tyres, they're cheap and come to your house/workplace to fit. There are other companies like this too.

That or order cheaply online then take to local fitters (there's a fitters on the edge of my village fortunately).

For the money, I'm not sure I can beat the Kumho KU31. Reviews seem positive and about £85 fitted (£170 for both fitted at home)

Not sure I can justify another £25 per "premium" tyre unless it's massivley better.... Especially as car is in tomorrow for rocker gaskets and HBV Valuable beer money here!!

Well as said, unless you are a rubber tart,  I rekon the Khumho is a good tyre on the Omega.  My first set did something upwards of 25k with no bad handling characteristics.

The SP Sport Maxx are certainly rather noisy on an Omega. Good levels of grip, reasonable longevity and not too prone to tramlining until worn down to 3mm or so where they do start to get a bit wayward.

I wouldn't recommend them if noise is going to be an issue though.
