2.2dti problem...
« on: 26 April 2010, 07:57:08 »

Had a call off a regular customer yesterday, he has an 01 2.2dti. On his way back yesterday on the motorway he had the eml come on and lost power (limp home mode I'm guessing) followed by a load of black smoke. Like an eejit he drove it another 40 odd miles to get home :o

Any suggestions on a possible cause? I'm hoping to go over tonight to read the codes off but it depends on what time I get out of work.

Cheers Mark, I was thinking it'd got to be something daft! That wouldn't cause any serious damage with him driving another 40 miles would it?

Just had the fuel filter replaced on my DTi and must have somehow knocked a pipe of the EGR valve just infront of it (The rubber connecting pipe had a split in it so was not much longer for this world anyway). This dropped the power to the degree it felt like no turbo assistance and popped up the code P0400.

No black smoke though!
