Radiator Cover

Does the radiator cover serve any practical purpose or is it cosmetic?

I've recently fitted a new radiator and didn't refit the cover as it was broken.  However, I've noticed it takes longer to warm up and the LPG takes longer to switch.....

Any thoughts? Many Thanks in advance! :y

I've run two 2.5TD's - one with the cowl, and one without it.

Didn't notice any difference temperature-wise to be honest.
It does serve as something of a fan guard, as well as providing a secure fitting for the smaller diameter hose, (on a 2.5TD; anyway!).

Yes its very likely that its cooling more effciently, as it got a thorough flush through.  Don't think there was enough coolent in there and too much crud!!  :o :-[

Anyway I've got another cover on the way, so I'll report back  ;)
