new style of drive belt?

not sure what you mean, removing the old belt would make it clear how to fit the new one.

With a 15 mill spanner and the tensioner fully backed off to the right, it should be just possible to slip the new belt on, but it has to fitt snug and tightly on the full belt run to fit over the pulley.

Spanner must be "inside" the belt run.

Well I ordered it from autovaux and it says on the bottom of the page:

"Additional Information
Does not fit V6 Petrol Engines without Aircon This part supercedes a belt which is 2260mm in older models. A technical bulletin can be emailed to you to demonstrate how to fit the new shorter belt."

so I was thinking I cant be the only person struggling with this lol :y

How do you back it off to the right? I tried to undo the pully nut ( 15 mil ) but it was uber strong and I couldn't budge it so I thought instead of trashing a new tensioner i'll ask first :y

anti clock wise removes the pulley, clockwise backs the tensioner off to allow the belt to be refitted.

So fit the spanner, turn clockwise to tighten the nut, once tight keep going, the tensioners will arm will move to allow belt fitting.

i use a 15mm socket & a breaker bar, looking at it from the front, pull it over to the right, slip belt on & release tension. :y

Put the 15mm socket or spanner onto the nut, push the spanner or socket clockwise to release the tension of the belt. Slip off the belt, then refit the new belt the same way :y
