Give Darth a go he supplied one to me and i think he's breaking some cars as we speak.  The fitting is very easy you just have to find all the screws in the door card and remember when re-fitting to put the handle mechanism back on.

Blimey they seem to go up weekly at the main dealer!  Mind you they also appear to fail with monotonous regularity so perhaps a new one can be justified.............. :(

Blimey Ron!! :o :o

It should be Vx part no. 090493702, and when I bought one in May 2009 it was £52.61 ex-VAT with TC.

That is a massive increase in price!! :'( :'(

Anyone know in what way these solenoids ' fail ' Do they mechanically seize up  and could possible be freed  or do they  burn out and therefore there is no chance of repair?

Something ceases up because I had to lift the knob with a pair of pliers could not do it by hand, when released however it is now quite free. Will probably put a scap yard unit in I tried to get a pattern part without success.

Ron, the good Vx specialist scrapyard south of Ashford at   Bethersden (01233 820135) who the other day certainly had at least two Omega's to hand ;) ;)

I've had two go and each time the lock mechanism got stiff causing the solenoid to burnout before I could free it up.  Moral of story: act fast when you hear one lock clicking later than the others!   :'(

changed my solenoid, made no odds at all, still intermitantly lazy door pin. I'd have the right hump if i'd paid that money unnecessarily. Might be worth lubing the lock mechanism somehow first?

Where do you look to free off the lock mech?

yes Lizzie phoned them yesterday and picked one up today £10.00. interesting post about system seizing up mine certainly seemed to but once freed it operates my hand freely. It will be interesting to see the old solenoid when I take it out.
