cold starting from cold.

hi to all.having problem with starting from cold,98 elete 3.0,start the car and it runs fine for about 20-30 secs and then revs drop and starts to struggle and then dies,turn the key and does the same thing,if i feather the throttle ang geg revs above 1500 for about a minute and engine settels and runs sweet.no eml.no codes showing or stored.does not have any probs when hot. :-/ :-/

Im guessing it could be the IAC Valve ( Idle air control valve ) , should be a post under the Maintenance Guides to show you how to clean it .

I would clean above mentioned valve and the throttle body first if you have no codes stored

thanks for advice,how does one go about cleaning icv.cant find anything in the maintanance section. :-?

Unplug electrics, remove hose at front & pull ICV away from plenum.  Clean with carb cleaner (squirt & shake) - do NOT try to open valve with a screwdriver etc. - when clean lightly oil (3 in 1) and refit.

Note it may take a couple of goes to fully clean.

thanks for your input chaps  :y prob solved. ;D :y ;D :ydidnt think unit so small can contain so mutch crud.
