Omega Cold Start Fault

I NEED SOME HELP ON A 2L 16V NREG OMEGA ECOTEC.
CAR STARTS FINE IN WARM WEATHER. FROM COLD VERY DIFFICULT - IT FIRES BUT THEN CUTS...AS IF NO FUEL.
IS THIS THROTTLE SENSOR OR ACTUATOR,OR SOMETHING ELSE...APPEARS TO BE A VERY QUIET HUM FROM ENGINE AND
OCCASIONALLY AFTER IT STARTS THE ECU LIGHT IS ON( IT DISAPPEARS AFTER A SUBSEQUENT WARM START)

Welcome to the forum David.

Please try to avoid writing everything in capitals, it looks like you're shouting.  :)

You need to find a paperclip, and then follow the instructions in this link:

When you've got some error codes from the above (if there are any), post them here and people will advise on interpreting them.

Ref Cold Start fault on 2l 16v Ecotec Omega

EML fault lights show;

19 ....due probably to engine not running
73 -  is this mass air flow temperature?
92 -is this camshaft position sensor -incorrect signal?

Could anyone tell me where these are located and is the CPS incorrect likely to be due to oil on the sensor

Code 19 will be a stored code, not just caused by the paperclipping being done with engine not running, I'm pretty sure.

General feeling on here seems to be that if your car has a code 19, and you don't replace the crank sensor with a genuine Vx part, you're asking for trouble soon in the shape of a breakdown.

In your case, I'm not too sure whether this is the only issue, because typical crank sensor symptoms are cutting out while on the move, and refusal to restart until the engine has cooled for a while.  :-/

Others will probably be able to advise better, never had a 19 myself.

Oh, and the crank sensor is down by the base of the dipstick tube, just in front by an inch or so.

As it's a 4 pot I'd go for the cam sensor first. Replace with genuine Vx, get it on a code reader to clear and re-read the codes again :y
