Coolant leak/ back of the engine on my 2.6
« on: 22 May 2010, 16:18:18 »

Hi all,

I have a coolant leak somewhere from the rear of the engine compartment on my 2.6. There is coolant loss and water is evident dripping from the rear/right side of the engine around the bellhousing. I  suspect heater hoses and/or heater valve. Has anyone else expereined this?? and if so what was the source of the leak? It is difficult to see just where the water is coming from, so I'd be grateful for any observations before I strip out the top of the engine to reach the hoses and/or valve.

Many thanks in advance...  :D

could be the heater by-pass valve(hbv) you dont need to strip down the top of your engine just the window wipers and scuttle panel that should enable you to change the hbv though not difficult to do it is trickey hth

Hi there,

many thanks for the quick reply!!

I think you could be right...I do think it is heater valve connected.... I'll get down to it and see what I can find!

Cheers,

Mike.
