Problems after LPG install.

 Just finished installing the LPG system to my 2.2. Everything was fine before, apart from a Low Beam Fld/Vision fault which I was going to fix in due course. When I fired up the car after the install (LPG fuse not fitted), I found the engine to be a bit 'tappety' & on brisk throttle I was getting a mild backfire/spitback through the Throttle Body? I took the car for a run & found that if I drove like 'miss daisy' she responded OK and even accellerated gently upto 60+, but if I gave it heavy throttle the car seemed to have no power & was being held back as if I had the brakes on ? I have renewed the Inlet & Throttle Body Gaskets as a matter of course, new Bosch plugs, & have checked for loose connections, air leaks etc but can't find any. I am now getting the fault codes :
 P0335 - Crankshaft  Sensor Incorrect Signal
(01) - Present

P1700 - SVS request via CAN
(00) - Present

These codes come back again immediately after being cleared.


I have put 5 litres of LPG into the tank & run the system to check it operates, but the AC GasSyncro software shows no injection times for cylinders 2 & 3? is this related to the problems above and does anyone have any ideas what is wrong ? :y

Ignore the P1700, is the crankshaft sensor plugged in securely?

1700's are often logged instead of a 340 cam sensor too iirc...

check the cam sensor wiring  :y

I would double check the injector wiring to the LPG system. It should report a duration for all 4 injectors unless the main ECU has shut them down due to a misfire. (in which case you'd have misfire codes stored).

Yep, been there. It'll run OK on petrol but as soon as you try to switch over to gas the ECU blacklists a couple of cylinders that aren't firing and until you restart it runs as rough as a bear's. Don't ask me how I know. ::)

First things first... You did remember to connect the Main servo pipe to the manifold didn't you? Similar symptoms to those Tunnie and I experienced when I forgot it on his :-[ :-X ::)

After that... Check all your wiring thoroughly... Everything you touched first :y

If that is the 4mm hose to the spare brass injector I tapped in just below the Throttle Body butterfly that comes from the tee between the PS-01 (map) & the Vaporiser, then Yes!  ;D I have double checked all the wiring/connectors. I had however, connected the LPG Injector Rail in the wrong order!!!! :-[ ::) I've just had to call it a night as it's getting too dark too see properly (I can't see properly in bright daylight LOL ;D) but it runs on both Petrol & Gas at idle, and a quick run in the morning will tell if there is an improvement :y

Thanks Kevin, just rechecked everything & you guessed it...LPG injectors connected wrongly  :-[ not had the chance to run the software again, but will try again in the morning. I will keep you posted.  :y

Thanks Jimbob  :y  I've checked all the wiring/plugs etc. I can't actually see the Crank Sensor for other components, but it looks a right PITA if it needs changing! ::)

It's not my flipping day today! The Coolant Bottle sensor has thrown in the towel now  :D, oh well... C'est la Vie  :y

UPDATE: Checked all wiring, all appears OK. Still getting P0335 & P1700, these return as soon as they are cleared. Checked LPG install, refitted LPG injectors correctly this time? I am numbering the engine cylinders 1-2-3-4 from the front of the engine back to the scuttle & the LPG feed lines & Injector loom are connected in the same sequence? The car starts very lumpy & then settles down to normal idle on petrol but is a bit 'rattley' & with a bit of body vibration. If I drive the car on petrol, it responds ok to minor throttle movement when actually on the move, but hesitates when pulling away from a standstill, but if I increase the throttle too much it hesitates badly and dies completely if anywhere near 4000RPM!
When I activate the AC GasSyncro software, it now tells me there is no petrol injection to CYL1 but reads the others OK.  When I switch on the gas, I get the second from the bottom green fuel level light & a flashing green light below it & an audible beeping that repeats 4 times? but the software shows no changeover to gas or  data for the LPG injectors?
Gas Pressure reading is: 0.61
MAP is: 0.27
Petrol Injectors read: Injector 1 : 0.0
                                   Injectors 2 +3+4 : 3.7 to 3.8 steady

Gas Injectors all read 0.0
Temperatures :  Gas = 42
                          Red = 36
Lambda Voltage reads:  Lambda 1 = 2.49 to 2.57 fluctuating slightly either side.
                                       Lambda 2 = 2.45 steady ( this is not wired on a four pot?)
Battery Voltage : 13.71 to 13.78 steady at idle.
RPM : Between 780 & 800 steady.
All four LPG Injectors show active green.


I am stumped!  :-? Could this all be caused by a suddenly gone dead Crank Sensor?, a faulty/blocked  petrol Injector?
When I had the LPG injectors wrongly fitted yesterday, the software showed no readings for Petrol Injectors 2 & 3 but it DID switch to gas at that time!!! I could plainly hear the tank solenoid click open! Any ideas fellas, before I go looking for a length of rope? ::) :y

I assume you've now checked that all the piggyback connectors for the injectors are attached to the corresponding cylinders?

Sounds to me like the injector not getting a signal is unplugged/broken wire. I think I'd strip down and remove the LPG piggyback connectors, restoring the original car injector plugs to the right injectors and run it up.

aeye, get it right on petrol first with lpg injectors unplugged from the car loom.
