Newbie Engine type question
« on: 01 June 2010, 00:01:48 »

Hi - I see many posts quoting engine type for various things - how do I know what I have? (if its in one of the handbooks, I'll Please read the manual :-)
Its a 2000 3.0 Elite, Facelift. I checked the range guides in the FAQ section but there is no mention of a 3 litre.
Thanks

The 3-litre would be X30XE. Think it should say in your manual :)

there are basically four V6s fitted to Omegas.

2.5 early engine
3.0 early engine

2.6 later engine
3.2 later engine

the later engine was not fitted at facelift, it was a while later on.

later engines differ from early engines in that they meet a higher emissions "level" :-

do not have a DIS pack in favour of coil-on-plug ignition
they do not have secondary air-injection
they do not have Exhaust Gas Recirculation
they do have OBD II
they do have a four cat exhaust system with cat-health monitoring
they do have drive-by-wire throttle

Exellent thanks. Puts me firmly in early engine box then!
I have good old fashioned cables moving the throttle about

Just wasn't sure if 2000/W was full facelift. Certainly seems exactly the same car as the bloke opposite me who has a 52 plate, but 2.6 engine not 3.0
