Does anyone know how to remove this link pipe??  I've been struggling with it for a while! does it pull out, screw out, push out.....Heeelllp!

I believe, if you have removed the bolt roughly beneath and forward of the oil filler, then it is just held on 2 O rings. That said often a bit of corrusion in the joint can cause it to stick.

It is best to use two new O rings on refitting and possibly a new pipe.

Good luck with refitting. You need a bit of patience with that bolt!

I remove the two stat housing bolts and use a set of grips to rotate the stat housing on the link pipe to free it off before removing the B-bolt

God! this is mad! this pipe wont budge - not to mention I do need a new one now ............ I would try that Mark but Ive gone too far now lol...wish me luck

I hit it then pryed it the twisted it then hit again then pryed it then................................it came off ............in three pieces!!!  Its ok though as the leak was a hole in the link pipe and I need a new thermostat, thanks for your help lads!

Ive just bought a new tube ready for tackling this job 

are you meant to use any sealant on the new stat, or just oring?

seem to recall something about a smear of camcover goo worth applying?

I used silicone grease on the ones I have put in.

The problem seems to be caused by coolant getting into the grooves behind the o-rings and the resultant corrosion expanding and crushing the o-rings. The corrosion appears to be slightly porous and acts as a wick which allows coolant to bypass the o-rings and escape (slowly).

Mine needed a stat just after crimbo and i ended up brakeing the pipe also....Hope you have better luck than i did...Ive still got no heat in the cab. Gonna have to try and sort it once and for all before we get the cold weather again.

try a heater matrix flush, guide in the maint section

I use a wipe of oil cooler goo on the stat to block face.......and a wipe of grease on the link pipe O rings.

Link pipe is around a tenner with new seals
