ATF change
« on: 19 March 2010, 10:23:19 »

Despite having a replacement AR35 box to fit in the future, as the fitted AR25 seems quite happy, I have decided to replace the ATF to prolong its charmed life. Unfortunately I cannot find the 'How to' referred to in posts. I realise I have to drop the sumps and clean/replace filters - I have the set from JPAT- however if there is a 'How to ' so much the better. Could anyone supply the link please? :y

Cheers

Chris

PS Please can we get an end to TB's 'rattling' good saga, the suspense is killing me!

best we seem to have is the level check..

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1152783586

Its not hard....

drop sumps, carefully as full of atf, I found partially undoing one side, fully undoing the rest helped as you can then 'slosh' some fluid out.

Then clean out the sumps, clean off old gasket from both faces.

3 bolts to drop and replace filter.

gaskets on, bolt it all back up, fill though the hole..

for that either use a big syringe, and squirt by squirt, or get a cheap 'killaspray' and pump that up for automated filling.

when full, start engine, go through all gears, and with car level, and running, do a final top up till the new atf just starts to overflow.

bolt back in and you are done.

Ive found a level check after a week or 2 has left it taking some more fluid.

Not sure there is a guide, but feel free to take pics and do one :y :y

Undo filler - atf will come out
Remove front small sump - if bits of thrust washer in there, cry
remove rear sump
clean up gasket mating surfaces
renew filter (3? bolts)
replace sumps
fill to filler level with DIII
start car
refill back to filler level
run through all gears, check level again
Go for 10 mile blast, recheck level on return

As per JB's reply, Fuch Titan 4000, treat yourself to 10l.

Opie Oils is a good supplier, and OOF get 10% off (see sticky in Parts For Sale section)

Not (too ::)) worried, MDTM is plenty familiar enough with taking the heads on and off my car.  Mind you, that in itself should be worrying - he is never shy to popping them off 'for a bit of fun' :o
