a few problems
« on: 08 June 2010, 15:22:54 »

i've just aquired a 2001 2.2 cd but it has afew problems, firtly there's the auto gearbox,on putting it in drive with my foot on the break you can feel it go into gear as it starts to pull.on removing my foot from the brake and pushing the accelorator pedal the engine revs up to about 2500 for a second or 2 then there's an almighty clunk,it engages and i screech off up the road.this only happens when it pulls away from stop or very slow, all the other gears seem to change fine and it kicks down like it should, any ideas?secondly the emmission light is on permanent but i understand its had a complete new exhaust system fitted recently, any ideas, thirdly there's a coolant leak at the rear of the engine, could this be HBV or do 2.2's not have one. Many thanks in advance.

Hi Stu, Coolant leak is as said, HBV. Check ATF level re; clunking and hesitant pull away. Emissions light, common problem on the 2.2/2.6/3.2. Pre-cat efficiency outside set parameters, easy fix is to re-locate lambda to after cat as opposed to it`s present position before cat. :y
