i have upgraded my rear discs to vented discs, and also the front to drilled and groved :).
vented and drilled + grooved are just to disperce heat more so you dont warp your disc :)

Upraded? You sure? Certainly by fitting vented at the back, you've now upset the front - rear bias of the original design, the master cylinders are apparently different. Drilled grooved discs have no advantage on the road over original fitment ..... but they look good.  :y

Wont a vented disc be wider than a solid and hence need a different caliper ?

no should all be the same size again unless upgradingbut if you are uprating discs to vented you would be getting the pads aswell so it always fits, because you wouldnt upgrade one without the other

Me being lazy here....

I'm lead to believe my V reg facelift 3.0 Elite Estate could have either Lucas or some other make(can't remember at the mo.) of calliper on the front.

Does anybody know for definite which type it will be or do I have to take a look? If the only way to tell is from looking, does anyone have a couple of pics so I can tell without removing a wheel?

Thanks

Steve

Only one type of caliper ever fitted to the front of the V6's

And rear calipers are wider if vented discs on the rear as well as the front??? Some body asked the other day and couldn remember for sure.

Cant help with the make sorry. Dont remember much in the way of markings either tbh

Fairly obvious but, vented discs are wider than solid ones and hence require a larger caliper

I'm with Shrek. Vented discs will HAVE to have a wider caliper, or you'll have vented discs the overall thickness of solid discs .... 12/13mm??  :-/

Correct  ....

I know  ;)  ;)  ;)
IIRC they used to fit Princess vented discs to the front of Capris. The Princess calipers fouled so they used the old Capri calipers with a spacer fitted between the two halves.
