Sounds like someone was watching! :o :o :o

How much is one worth in scrap metal?  Surely it is only worth any good sum for use on another miggy? :-/ :-/

last count £180 a ton!!

the only reason they have stopped taking complete cars is because the recyclers have been alerted to the situation.

(along with railway electrified cable and branded copper cable) :o

Bought a new gas cooker - put old one outside on the drive in front of the bigger garage waiting to take it to the tip in the estate.  Came home the other night and its gone  :o :o - the diddy's seem to have struck again.  Well pleased - good result :y

Moral - if you want to keep it don't leave it lying around  ;)

Re Lizzie's question:
I know a large national fleet operator who regularly has cats stolen off of parked vehicles and in fact  the guys in the local garage sell cats they have replaced for between £10 and £25 all this for the platinum (?) that is inside them. I think its a case of you need to know  which ones are valuable.
Bad luck though to have one nicked out of your back garden!

they dont miss a trick.

Years ago I had a small garden wall built, the guy doing it had left an 8" pice od s shaped copper pipe under my window that he had been using for pointing.

6.30am am sat in my living room before going to work, saw this youth nip into the garden, nick the copper pipe and carry on his milk round, got the shock of his life when he appeared from next door and asked what I wanted,  so I said, well I have the reg number so now all I want is your name so I can report you for treapassing and thieving.  So he give me the pipe sheepisly (Which I didnt actually was - as it was the principal of it all)

As he got the pipe I saw the little haul of goodies he had collected. He asked me not to call the police - fortunate for him I couldnt be bothered, thankfully had no more issues.  Daft thing is I didnt have milk delivered either.

Our local pikeys have taken to nicking metal fences and railings from peoples houses....one poor bloke lost a 50ft length of lovely pointed shaped wrought iron fence last month, he had only installed it at a cost of hundreds a week previously, they cut the mountings off with a petrol 12" grinder.

I blame the scrap metal merchants, because they ask no questions, and tell no tales. Take metal-pay money.
