HID Xenons
« on: 10 June 2010, 19:03:37 »

Good evening everyone,  i'm fortunate enough to have just been given some HID/Xenons.  I have a 2002 CD and want to fit the lights.  What do i need to have.  I have the lights and the box things that are underneath them.  What else do i need, i,ve just read a thread saying they had a HID light cluster switch for sale.  Will the one i have not work, also the levellers are all fine and will my ones work them.  Apart from i can't think of anything else.  I've read on the forum (can't find the link) that as it's a retro fit i don't need the washers.  Any assistance as always will be gratefully received.

According to DfT, you need...

A headlight washing system
Approved lenses (you have them)
Automatic levelling system

Its a grey area if you want to be legal. Note that it is not an MOT failure though.

TB the levelling system i have on the CD can this be adapted to fit and work on the HID's.  Also i'm assuming the the plugs from my lights fit directly onto the HID's or will i find the plugs tucked away when i remove the lights i have fitted?

AUTOMATIC levelling system, not manual ;). So no.

If you want to fit it anyway, you need to modify the main plugs going to ballast units.

TB as usual the forum is very helpful.  Is there a "how to" on the subject?
