Cutch pedal onfloor
« on: 11 June 2010, 09:07:33 »

Yet another problem. The clutch pedal is now on the floor and wont operate the clutch at all. Is this the master cylinder or the release cylinder please? Thanks

first, check fliud level in master, if its low top it up to full mark,
allow a few mins then lift pedal by hand and leave for a few mins again, then push it up and down by hand a few more times,if you are really unlucky then it may not work but usualy it does, clutch bite will be low to start with then it usualy comes to normal operation, if there is a leak then it wont work!!

but worth trying this little trick before anything else :y

As said, check the level in the brake fluid reservoir, if low refill then bleed the clutch properly.
The clutch pedal has a strong spring which helps to push the pedal down once you pass a certain point...hence the pedal stays on the floor if you lose fluid.
You must find where the fluid has gone....it could be a leaky clutch component but it could also be a leak in the brake system somewhere so do not ignore it.

Thanks for your help. It turns out its the release cylinder in the gearbox leaking badly so there goes another £400 with a new clutch! Thanks again anyway
