« on: 16 June 2010, 19:33:30 »

The milage now is 61000 miles i am  just concerned about the
time since the change 5 years
This car has been well looked after and has .comprensive
service information. Will i need to get the belts changed and
is there any member close to me who can do the belt change, i am in Congleton Cheshire.

Hi BB and welcome to the forum :y

As Tunnie says the cambelt and tensioners need replacing asap. Vauxhall recommends 40,000 miles or 4 years whichever comes first ;)

I can beat the OP, 2000 Elite at 68k with no cambelt change in its life although belt checked at each service  :o

Not driving the car much at the moment, just waiting to save the £300 for the change at the local dealer.

Did they check the rollers too as they are what usually pack in allowing the pistons to kill the valves?
By the way to check a belt properly you have to dismantle virtually as much as to change the bloody thing so I very much doubt it's been done on every service.
If it's been "checked" by the same bunch you intend to get changing the belt I'd be looking for a better dealer.

I'm sure some of the members on here would do you a belt change for a much better price by the way.

Doesn't matter who does it just get it done ASAP!
As mentioned it's usually the pulley bearings that fail not the belt....
Daz will look after you though!
