Wont idle when warm
« on: 24 June 2010, 21:55:13 »

For some reason the car has become a pain... even after i service it tut! Car idles fine when started from cold but if i fire her up when warm it wont idle for 2-3mins then will be ok but at random can have a nasty hesitation. No fault codes had it plugged into "My Naff Code Reader"m and i cannot see anything thats off (then again i plugged it in when i got home not when the problems are actually happening). What could be causing this?

could be the idler valve sticking, or leaking vac pipe.

Wouldn't this happen when cold also if it was one of those?

Hehe! The tb's are fully closed just resting on the screw and not the cast. As to changing the icv I have tried a different one but then it doesn't idle when cold! It's only just started doing this, straight after a service!

Had exactly the same problem just last month after the service and MOT. Went to pick it up and was early, one of the guys was taking it for a run. He'd come back and said it was stalling at every junction. They told me to bring it back the following morning. When i came to pick it up again, they'd sorted it. Said that they'd taken the icv off to get better access to the plugs when they serviced it, so  they'd cleaned and oiled the icv and also cleaned the tb's, (which they said were sh$tty) checked for leaks in the air intake but found none. Homer is still ok now, they didn't charge for the following days work and took £50 off my original bill, so a result in the end  :y
