Hi there are you saying i need to change the engine ECU????? I got the car key and the module that goes around the neck of the steering from a memeber of the forum. Which is the Engine ECU????
Then it is a wasted effort.

I had a single key the chip in the key got lost. I then bought a new chip to insert in the key with a module that goes around the neck of the steer.

Well; as it is now can any one assist as to what way forward.  :-[ :-[ :-[

Transponder and immobiliser need to be paired to the engine ECU. Been easier to have left everything alone, bought a new key blade, had it cut and paired with TechII
Engine ECU is in triangular relay box by battery

You need the chip from the key, the pick up from around the barrel and the ECU which fits in the triangular box next to the battery. They should all come from the same car ;)

Can't remember 100%what you had from me Bright Key & Transponder Chip rings a bell in which case you will need to have the Chip Flashed with a Tech 2 mate.

Like said above if you want to change the lot the Engine ECU would need to be with it all :)

simples .. chip in key is recognised as "correct" by transponder ring around the barrel. Transponder ring sends correct signal to ECU to allow engine to start.

So to work key must talk to transponder, transponder must talk to ECU.

In order to "talk" they MUST be "paired" by tech2 ..  in simplicity "pairing" makes them speak the same language.

So all three parts   chip/transponder/ECU MUST be setup correctly to function. If any one part does not work/is not present  the ECU prevents the engine starting ... which is why its called an "immobilisor" .. :)

HTH  :)
