sluggish gearbox
« on: 29 June 2010, 19:07:24 »

Hi peeps-my 2 litre ecotec has just had an engine change and i now have an issue with the gear box-what seeems to be happening is(its an auto)it seems to pull away fine in first then when i change to second there is a slight delay and the same into third and then i put it into drive and it seems ok ish if only gut less-it seems like when i try to pull away in drive straight off it seems like its stuck in third gear! Also the button on to of the gear stick which used to put it into 'speed' mode as in it would red line before changing gear-it would also seem that i no longer have any kick down-really boring-I love my Miggy but its been causing me alsorts of headaches for months now and i just want her back-I,ll be taking her into a garage tommorow however I am looking for some advice from people who know these fickle creatures-by the way its a 2 litre 16v ecotec on a 99 plate-any advice or/and suggestions gratefully recieved-many thanks-Harvey D

No sport mode and stuck in "limp mode" when in "D" are classic symptons of dirty/failing selector switch. Have a read of this http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1267956397

As said above, the gearbox selector switch is the first place to check as the symptoms definately point to this.
