Hi I am new to this site and I am a girl!!! lol
I need to replace my coil pack. Just wondered which of the codes printed on my coil pack is for a replacement? I have found one on Ebay and 3 of the 5 codes on it match mine. Just dont want to pay for it if it is the wrong part.

Are you sure it's coil pack? What's been done to reach the decision to replace it?

Its mis firing, plugs have been checked and was told that was what needed replacing. Cant afford to pay for a new one was hoping a second hand one would do the trick. :-/

Have three girls in my family, the one I married and two daughters, all of them Vauxhall drivers. My first thought is 'stop' what makes you think its the coil pack? So many owners replace them and find the misfire or whatever is still there and its a lot of money just to throw at the problem in the hopes of getting it right.
Do some background work first. Have you had the codes read yet? check also for water or oil in plug wells. Check air trunking between MAF and throttle body for splits. When cold unplug the MAF connector and see if it idles better when disconnected. Some will say its no good doing a multimeter Ohms static resistance check on the coil pack and a Clare tester is the only reliable way. Do it anyway just in case it throws up something that gives you a comfort factor 'before' you spend all that money.
post the results of the fault code test on the forum and some of the very knowlegable guys on here will no doubt be able to help. I chased a misfire round my omega for weeks resisting advice to fit a new coil pack. One guy pointed me at a leaking skutlle and he was spot on, I found water in the plug wells. My car runs as sweet as a nut'. Hope you get it sorted.

I tried the pedal test but none of the lights flashed?
Not sure what else to do now? Does anyone live near Derby and have a code reader please? I am really unsure what to do?
The emmisions light is always on when ignition is on? It also comes up with 'automatic gearbox' when it is misfiring but then will run fine and the warning goes out but can swap and change back. It has only happened since she was taken to kwik fit for her mot. It was never on before that and has not gone out since.
I dont use her very much but when I do she is a nightmare to drive.

have you actually taken the coil pack out to look at it, very easy on the 2.2, just 2 bolts.

The reason I ask, is the 2.2's often seem to leak water from the windscreen, which then drips onto the engine and finds its way into the coil pack.

I know its been fairly dry recently, but car washes can do it too..

This has happened to a few people, and either resealing the scuttle, or parking facing uphill rather than downhill has sorted it.

The other outside chance is the cam sensor...but that normally stops the car starting, esp when hot, but can throw up gearbox codes too.

Mark DTM Calibra is in Nottingham, not too far from you with the proper diag gear and a very good knowledge of the car, may be worth booking in with him for a checkover.

I did indeed have this problem about 3 years ago. Water was running in from the bonnet seal. My dad put a piece of foil around it and this stopped it. There was water in the plugs at the time. This is now solved.
Yes i have had the plugs out. The rubber covers that go over the plugs seem to be split and parts missing from the very bottoms. Is this going to be a problem?

I would get the diags done, it may be the water has now seen off the coil pack, or it could just be the boots are knackered, in which case I am sure they do a replacement set.

I dont know what the price difference is between the repair kit, and the full new coil pack  :-/  if not great I would probably go the whole hog.

Either way, consider a trip to see Mark, he should be able to let you know, and also can do updates on the various on board ECU's such as gearbox and climate, which most people find very worthwhile.

That will be the problem. It is allowing the spark to escape and not go through to the plugs fully. There is a repair kit available from Vx for around £20.

EDIT: to add - I'm not a million miles away so could have a look for you.
