Estate Tailgate Glass
« on: 05 July 2010, 20:27:20 »

Anyone got a foolproof way of removing the glass without resorting to a hammer?

I'd just rather not smash it, but if needs be, then I will!

Renamed the thread to make it understandable - sorry! :-[
The tailgate glass.
I need to cut a tailgate in half and the glass is not needed, but no point in making a mess and spending hours getting all the bits off if there's an easier way!

drill a small hole through the seal//bonding (or just push a stanley through it, you will struggle though thread an old bike brake cable inner through the hole(can be fiddly ) then use it like a cheese wire by pulling either side(gloves advisable here) and it will cut the entire seal easily the glass will just lift out then Pete,
its a bit wierd if you have never done it but easy enough!! especially for a man of your considerable talents!!

Take it to a windscreen company and ask the lads for advice, bet one of them offers to take the glass out and prove it's a 30 second job to his mates.  :y

Cheers chaps.
I don't have an old brake cable, piece of cheese wire or a handy windscreen centre to hand - so I'll just smash it! :y
