Evening folks. Does anyone know or can anyone tell me from experience what the welded nut size is that accepts the lambda sensors on a 2.2? [Assume same for V6?]
Reason for asking = bought an aftermarket frontpipe assembly and the rear lamba sensor "socket" is right on TOP of the exhaust - thus rattling against the floorpan. Haven't got time to mess about returning it - due to work comittments - so need to seal up the one on top and drill hole in SIDE of pipe and weld a suitable nut on to accept sensor [the one after the cat]. The one before cat is well clear of everything.
P.S. Is thread metric?

Then I can just go and buy a nut and do the job. Hope someone knows?

P.P.S. No. I haven't got an endless supply of nuts of varying sizes to try on a released lamda.

has the nut gone or the sensor?? not seen a nut go my self but have seen the sensor threds go. when it went just pulled it out and put some fire gum in hole  left it for hour and it stayed there and no leak, until got a new sensor.

Can i ask what the reason for this was? Assume you mean the 'downpipe' with cat section?

There is no real need to replace this, unless your exhaust flexi has given up the ghost. Even if you are getting error codes, replace the sensor, not the entire down pipe. If flexi has failed, you can replace just it for around £20, and use the original down pipe. Which is a much better solution, as pattern cats are shite!

There rubbish, many dont last a year plus there louder.

The common failure is the flexi joint which can be replaced therefore retaing the quality OE cat.

Its not really a nut, its a boss, can be got from custom exhaust outlets or ebay.

I've just ordered a flexy, was gonna order a pipe but after a good hard think and advice from this form but against my better judgement. I decided experience came before my bad run of luck :-p

A wise move, there not to hard to fit, bit of grinding/cutting required to get the old one off and then an easy bit of welding. I have done 4 or 5 now, think two were for Tunnie.

ALL that faffing about welding up boss and fitting new one=why not cut pipe either side of boss rotate to position and weld up again?? cheaper all round surely
