Central Locking another problem
« on: 06 July 2010, 21:01:26 »

Hi Peeps

Been away,so not been on here.My first post was about the key fobs, which I am now sending to Martin.

Now I have another problem!
Over the last few days,I have a complete exhaust fitted from Cat back(£250),not a problem.
Whilst in the fitters,my 2.2(51)CD sprang a leak, just fitted a new HBV (£38 main dealer) after reading some posts it sounded like a big and cumbersom job,it took my son in law 30 minutes (access from underneath the car, happy days!! No more leaks.

To the point you say!
During the day,the central locking stopped working and the boot wont open although the only fob button that was working was the boot one.
I was doing as suggested by locking drivers button from back door, that locked all down.
Now nothing, even on the key,it will just lock driver door and you have to manually push lock all other doors and release boot from inside.
Checked fuse 20 all ok as the other bits like, heated seats etc work.
Also the dashboard boot button does not work.

Long story I know but any one any ideas, this is the third fault in as many days,so hopefully once fixed no more!

Thanks in advance.

Paul

the agro with the hbv you;ve read about will be with the v6's. I should imagine its a two minute job on the 4 pot. ;)

Re c locking, does sound like the fuse, cant confirm the number, but my central locking blew its fuse due to some dodgy wiring on the rear blind  ::) if yours has that feature.

Lush don't feel lonely as over here a version of the Omega has similar issues as discussed in the below,

http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/cadillac-catera-cimarron-forum/202691-fuel-door-other-items-not-working.html

http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/cadillac-catera-cimarron-forum/202842-anyone-know-how-open-fuel-door.html

May be it will give you some ideas or thoughts.  Definitely a little wild goose chase as we have fewer enthusiasts over here.

Cheers.

Thanks Test.

Problem is everything else works, now have to lock the driver door with key, therefore alarm goes off every time I unlock!

I am thinking, after reading on here about key fob,if central locking needs reprogramming/resetting?

Sent one key to be fixed, any other ideas anyone.Off to pay the tax man, back later.

Thank you.

Paul.

Paul...
For what its worth, my CL is playing up....have to use key to unlock...then off goes the alarm.
But if I unlock with the key, then while the key is still in the lock I press the unlock button on the fob, I can open the door without the alarm going off.

Worth a try.... :y

To stop the alarm setting/going off every time .... ensure keys in hand not in car, open rear door drivers side, ensure keys in hand, close drivers door, ensure keys in hand, lean in through rear door and press drivers door lock button down, all door locks actuate, ensure keys in hand, shut rear door.

The car is now locked but the alarm is not set. If you still have the keys in hand, you can unlock the front door wiithout setting the alarm off. If at any stage you leave the keys in the car ... OOOPS ..

 ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

Hi Peeps

Thank you for your comments.

Terbert, key fob is knackered and has been sent to Martin.
Entwood - I was doing that while we sorted the fobs, then the other day wouldn't work,I have to push down the door button on the back, then the driver door.
As none will lock together, therefore lock drivers door, but cant lock back door,if you know what I mean.
Fuses checked, everything else on fuses are working but changed any way.

ChrisG- Both fobs knackered, batteries were changed.
The boot button used to work on both, push the boot button red light on fob comes on,but boot does not open.

So far this week:- New exhaust, new HBV - the car has been perfect up until now - fobs have always been problem, then last night neighbour backs into drivers door, scratches and red paint with small dent and a kid comes off his bike on the pavement, bike knocks sill end off and scraps all the sill with scratches and blue paint!!!

Not my bloody week at all.
Any way, sorry and thank you guys, any other ideas please?

Paul.
