I notice you said wiper mechanism, it's only the wiper arms and blades that need to come off, a 5 minute job at worst, so i'd be asking them about that.

All they want to do is try and justify their labour times by removing bits that don't need removed.  >:(

Give it a go yourself, you'll be surprised how easy it is.  :y
For the amount of access it gives by removing the mecanism and the 5 mins it takes to remove it, it's silly to leave it in place.

Guys, are you absolutely sure.  Forgive me for asking as I have little or no knowledge about these matters but my 'old style' 1999 3.0L Elite has the same problem.  My main dealer is usually very helpful but they say that they would struggle to replace it in under 3 hours.  Are the old style Omegas more difficult to fix?
Many thanks

Greg,

They're all pretty much the same. There's an exceptionally well-written guide by a handsome man (ahem) here - http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1193594464

As in another post and without teaching you guys.
My son in law has just changed the HBV in 30 minutes,he had the proper tool for the clips,we jacked the car up and worked from underneath.

While he held the clips I squeezed the tool(no comments please!!).
Filled up with coolant, started up,ran up to temp, switched off no more leak, happy days, not a plaster in sight, left running for 30 minutes temp and fan kicked in at 90,well pleased.
So if any one reads this, easier to work from below, instead of removing all the wipers etc.
All done for £38 from main Vauxhall dealer (rip off merchants)

Now the locks dont work on the key!!see other post.
Cheers guys for all of the advice, excellant forum.

Paul.

Yes totally different job on the 4 pots.  and easiest from underneath  :y

I dont remove anything to do a V6 HBV, can squeeze round and do it with a bit of practise, there is quite a bit of range on the hoses.
