brake pad warning light sensor
« on: 13 July 2010, 15:59:49 »

hi
2.2 omega 2002 face lift

front discs and pads are less than 2000 mile old but flipping sensor comes on intermittently specially over speed bumps potholes etc.

looking at replacing the sensor or cutting and joining the wires
what i need to know is
1. how many sensors are there ie one per wheel
2. where are they hidden
3. if i go down the wire joining route is it just a case of removing sensor and joining the wires back together to make a loop

thanks to all that reply  :y

Face lift I think only one sensor .. left hand front wheel ... at least thats what this one has ... miniface lift .. the old car .. had one on both front wheels.

It slots into the brake pads through the "gap" in the caliper and clips up by the shock absorber... easy to see .. :)

Light ON when "open circuit"   so sounds like you have a loose connection. try unplugging and checking the wires going into the plug and socket

To "fool" the system .. either cut off the sensor and join the wires .. or unplug the sensor and "bridge" the contacts
