Estate aftermarket parking sensors
« on: 13 July 2010, 13:10:58 »

Anyone fitted any aftermarket parking sensors on an estate?  I'd be interested to see some pictures so I know where to drill.  Is there much behind the bumper?

I've done this successfully on a pre-facelift saloon but not sure with an estate  :-?

I'd be interested too, next on my list of "must do's..."

seems like a rare thing too, never seen an estate with them fitted. (wonder if that is because you can't fit them???)

You silly bugger!!!

My main problem is 2ft high concrete bollards when the estate is fully loaded and I have no vision at all out of the back window, and can't see the bollards via the side mirrors.

might try a reversing camera though, cheaper and better (maplins/costco/maccess...£50-ish.) and fit the camera in the top of my rear window under the stop lamp.

My problem is a 5 foot wife who physically cant see above the seat back!

Someone must have done it (or at least had the bumper off)....

Bumper is not a problem as its easy to remove, what you need is a photo of factory fit rear sensors on an estate to determine the correct positions for them

So there WERE factory fit ones.....never seen any.

Now if this was a F*rd, there would be dimples in the inside of the bumper to show you where to drill................

I can't remember the reasoning .... I think cos it wasn't the normal 'bullet holes' in the bumper.
