RDS Clock Setting
« on: 17 July 2010, 14:41:06 »

On my old pre-facelift MV6 the clock used to be set by the BBC via RDS.

However on my new facelift MV6 it does not seem to work, has this facility been removed? The icon is still on the MID just not illuminated.

Thanks

It still works the same way on my 2000 Facelift.   ::)

According to page 40 in the Facelift Owners Manual RDS can be enabled or disabled by the user.

It also depends on a good signal and use of an FM station that transmits the time (people have reported BBC2 and Classic FM as reliably setting their RDS time)

Presumably this will stop working when the Digital radio comes out?  :-[

Sounds the same as mine:
Two button over display look like a clock (left) and bullseye (right).
Press LH one for 2 secs puts time display in setting mode
Press twice more until year flashes
Press again for 3 secs until clock icon in display flashes and says RDS TIME.
Press RH button to toggle RDS Time between 0 (off) and 1 (on) as desired.
Press LH button 3 more times.

At least that's what my manual says!  I'm blowed if I'm trying it :D

[edit]I should have said select BBC Radio 1 or 2 and be a little bit patient[/edit]

After the new culture ministers announcement it doesn't seem at all likely that the switch off will occur in 2015.

Even if they do start switching off FM transmitters it will probably be on a reduced scale so that there are still FM transmitters available for car drivers to tune to.
