Fuel Gauge Issue

Alright people i have just found out the hard way that my fuel gague is wrong i have a quarter a tank of fuel ion the car and it died and i had to get the police to close the highway.

What do i need to do to check what is wrong.

i feel a right noob :)

I'm not close but I'd happily sort it out for you. I've got a tank here I can scavenge spares off if needed :y

Brilliant where abouts are you in the west Mid's i come from that way so it is not that far from me

Wellung,
didnt any alarms go off? quarter tank? i.e. 20 litres? sounds like dead or blocked lift pump syndrome to me!!!!

I had thought about it OT, but on another thread by the same poster he talks about a leak around the sender as well, so I was going to sort both at the same time :y

i have fixed the leak around the sender well the rac man did lol becasue i couldnt move the thing the fuel sender seal was not even one the tank it was in the tank :) lol
