Water in pass footwell
« on: 21 July 2010, 23:33:01 »

Think i seem to have seen several posts on this subject but cant find any in a search so i will ask again
Slight dripping has started in the passenger footwell seems to be right on the kick panel thingy on the very left side where it curves following the line of the door. (phew) I know we have had a lot of rain recently but it has only just started and has never been noticed beforehand.
Any ideas/common places  please as to where its coming in

Sounds like a blocked scuttle drain.

Scuttle drain will be blocked.
Lift the pollen filter flap (nearside of scuttle).
Poke around in the murky water/silt/leaves in there looking for the drain grommet at the bottom.
Clear said grommet to allow water to drain out using stiff wire.
When it's empty clean out all the crud in there and ensure the drain is clear.
You'll doubtless need a new pollen filter make sure you get the grey active charcoal one for yours.

Once you've cleaned the scuttle drain start work on the carpets !!  The underlay/soundproofing beneath the carpet seems to be able to absorb an inordinate volume of water.... if you don't dry it out PROPERLY, within a few weeks it will start to stink......  horribly  :(
