Hot engine/Air Con

Hi took car in for mot they advised me to get Air con recharged which they say will keep engine cool,had this done cant notice any difference my car is running at 95  is this normal as they have me a little worried now,fan kicks in at about 97 :y

Were they serious??
A working a/c system will add more heat to the under bonnet area. The engine temperature is determined by the thermostat and should remain pretty constant, unless the radiator is clogged up.
Your temperature is spot on.

Lol, the aircon condenser will pre-heat the rad colling air so cooling will be worse with aircon running....you might just recover this slightly by the fact the aircon rad fans are running (but these come on anyway when the engine is hot even if the aircon is goosed)

And remember.....its the thermostat that maintains the engine temp.....

no had aircon done at halfruads still had to have it done anyway after a hard day at work nice to have it on ,also ask halfrauds for price on two front tyres and all new brake pads they priced this at wait for it! £525,what a joke getting it done for a third of that price even with vx pads no wonder they weren,t busy
