How much fuel is in the tank? And how much Sugar?

Best option would be to attach a hose to the fuel pump outlet in the panel under the boot floor, bridge the fuel pump relay contacts and pump it out into a couple of jerry cans, IMHO.

Then remove the pump plate and check for any undisolved remains in the tank.

As there's little fuel, probably best to lift to lid on the tank, syphon out the remains and check for sugar in the corner by the filler.

If you're confident very little went in the alternative is to brim it with petrol and hope for the best. :-/

I know it's too late but, how did they get to the fuel filler.
I thought it locked the flap when the car was deadlocked. Did they break it open?

drain out as much as u can. then get a jerry can of fuel pour it in so it picks up most of the contaminated fuel. Then fill to the brim with high octane fuel and take it for a drive. Hopefully then it would have desolved so much to clear through.

Cant guarantee this will work mind u but i suppose the only other thing is pullin out the fuel tank and giving it a good clean out.
