alloy wheel repair
« on: 01 August 2010, 19:10:23 »

Hi All,

just back from trip to Ukraine. Omega ran great. unfortunately I hit a pothole not far from the border on the way back, the tyre appears still ok, but there's a dent on the rim itself (inside). Can these types of dents be righted like you can on a steel rim? I have the 100 years anniversary rims( mine is a 08/99 opel omega).

3909km in 7 days, average 68km/h, 7.3L/100KM

I believe that you can repair some quite serious damage to alloy rims, but I would think it all depends how badly you've bent it. I would think it'd be cheaper to find A N Other rim for less that you'd pay for for your bent rim to be repaired.  ;)

General rule is if it's cracked bin it, bent is repairable. As you drove on without a puncture, presumably, the wheel should be repairable.

One of mine has a slight ding on the inside rim, no noticeable affect, so left it. :-/

can be repaired..if necessary must be heated to a degree for repair (so repaint will be necessary also)
