Having done a three point turn on the gravel driveway I get out to call my son & see a stream of black oil pissing out from the wheel arch.
Big leak on corroded bend ,lower pipe , oil cooler.
Tried bodge,leak too bad. Looks like a pig to unbolt from top of cooler, Will it or will something break?
Is this a hard job?
I wonder if it's worth it as the autobox is playing up?

Not done it on the mig , but on my other jtd (fiat) when pipe went it was really tight getting pipes of and ended up splitting cooler as well so had to replace the lot anyway . you may be lucky but the pipe fittings  get quite well stuck to the oil cooler good luck!

Not ever done it, but I suspect with bumper off (5 minute job), things will become so much clearer

Bumper off in 5 mins? It it obvious how to?
I can see where the pipe goes into the cooler but it looks corroded up there!

You don't need to remove the bumper. I took the wing liner out and the banjo bolts came out quite easily. I then cut the rusty pipe and slipped a rubber hose over the pipe as a temporary fix which has lasted about 6 weeks but is weeping again now. The new pipes are about £118 inclusive of VAT and the seals.

I'd say the bumper is easier to remove than the liner?

You only have to remove the front half

The bottom half of my liner is broken as is!
Is the cooler after or before the filter? Can I cut the pipe in situ and put a sleeve on it with jubilee clips?

Why not replace the existing pipework with braided flexible pipes.

To remove the existing pipes is more of a messy task than difficult to do, due to oil dripping everywhere.
From memory, they fit to the top rear face of the oil cooler by the nut/union method. I can't remember any banjos up there.

Even if you decide to source replacements from Vx, you should be okay as I'm told that the (earlier) U25DT pipes are now obsolete.
You should have the (later) X25DT engine.
