CATALYTIC CONVERTER
« on: 15 August 2010, 21:49:23 »

Hi all.
I need to buy a new catalytic converter for my car and was wondering if you could all give me your opinion on the best price that I have found so far.

So far after some searching on the web the cheapest quote i've had is £145.
Thats all in...V.A.T, delivery, everything...and comes with a 2 year warranty.

Does anybody know where I could go to possibly beat that price.....................and what do you think of that price....good or bad?

My car is a Y reg 2.2 CD auto.

Thanks in advance   :y

So ignoring the postage then thats exactly the same price as my cheapest quote so far.
Do you think its going to be pretty hard to get one cheaper then £145 then mate.
Is that about as cheap as they come?

Im not sure if you will get cheaper on one that has the proper pre-cat as well as the main cat .... most of the other patterns dont have a pre cat and just rely on the main cat ... as i said i have had no problems with mine... my local garage only took £30 to fit  :y

Many many thanks to you both for warning me about buying one without the pre-cat.

I had no idea and may very well have gone out and bought one....in fact I probably would have  ::)

You've just saved someone a lot of money and hassle with those replys......thankgod I posted the question on here first.    :y :y :y :y :y :y :y

I found out the hard way mate, got a pattern part from my mates garage, had all sort of bother with it,i then sourced one with a pre cat on ebay and fitted it,EML solved
But as there was nothing wrong with the 1st part, the suppliers wouldn't take it back

So i was out of pocket for the price of 2 downpipes to get one fitted and working properly  >:(
