Mass airflow sensor

Hi everyone

Thanks for all your responses on my other problems. It has been mentioned that I should clean the mass air flow sensor on my 3.0 1994 omega. Firstly what cleaning product should I use? Secondly am still waiting for my haines manual so does anyone have a pic of engine bay to show me where i will find the maf.

Any help much appreciated

Without going outside to check on my 3.0, maf's are usually located in the large bore piping between the airfilter housing and the throttle bodies.

I'm not sure of the best thing to clean it with, maybe carburettor cleaner or petrol will be too harsh. How about electrical contact cleaner. I'd do it carefully however you decide...

Just remembered that the Omega's have the dual ram thing so the maf will be in the tubing that runs from the air filter box to the multiram system...

MAF is just below the 90 degree bend coming out of airbox.

Nothing successfully cleans them, if its faulty, its shagged, replace it.

MAF self-cleans - no outside intervention is possible or desirable. you'll fatally damage it whilst trying

usually cleaning don't help replace it
