Clutch problem?????????????????
« on: 22 August 2010, 22:46:40 »

Hi All,

Just a couple of questions for the knowledgable out there that I haven't found theanswer to on here.

First, I've recently noticed a tinny, metallic clanking noise when pressing the clutch pedal, only happens when changing gear and not when parked pressing and releasing it, any ideas as to what the problem is and how to sort it?

Second, how do you do a plug change on a 2l 16v? Found how to do it on a V6 but not mine, seems to be a few things to move out of the way to get to the plugs and I don't want to break anything.

Any help appreciated as always. :-?

Thanks, clutch bearing, sounds like a big and expensive problem, is it?  :(

Thrust bearing is unlikely in this case as the OP says metallic clank type noise. It'll either be the Dual Mass Flywheel or the pressure plate tabs have broken. Best to save up and buy both. Try searching the tinternet for Buypartsby and check their prices for both the DMF and clutch kit, might as well change the lot as your in there :y
