Cautionary tale:
I bought a Pela a little while back, and have used it enthusiastically on both my Golf, and 'er Omega. Only used it twice on the Omega so far, maybe 3 times on t'other.
Then there was the saga of the blocked oil pick-up, and discovery of a fair amount of crud in the sump whilst sorting it. Some of the solid matter in the sump was in thin black flakes of varying size.
I speculate that over the years of inadequate servicing prior to our ownership, a 'plating' of solid oil residue formed on the base of the sump.
While 'normal' oil changes were being done, this would have stayed exactly where it was, I'm almost certain, doing little harm.
However, the way that the Pela 'probe' taps down on the bottom of the sump
could plausibly have disturbed and broken up some of this crap, freeing it to get involved with the pickup strainer.

This isn't intended to be anti-Pela, just honest; and it is only speculation, as I didn't get the sump right off and couldn't inspect it carefully at the time; the priority was to get up and running asap, minus any debris that I could feel/reach with the sump hanging down on the subframe.
Took the sump off my Golf last weekend as a precaution, and it was clean as a whistle, so I'll have no hesitation using the Pela on that, or on the Omega now that I know there's nothing solid in the sump.

Just something to consider if you don't know the full service history of the motor you're planning to use it on
