Air con seals 7 lubricant
« on: 26 August 2010, 17:25:54 »

02 2.6 V6 facelift. Having removed the drier and taken apart the joint below the battery shelf I now need to replace the seals and have the system regassed. There are 4 seals which I am replacing, 3 are the same size, about 11mm internal diameter and the fourth is smaller, about 8mm internal diameter, they are all green in colour. My local VX dealer has got the 3 larger ones but is stuggling to get the smaller one, apparently it only comes with the drier!!
Anyone know where I can get the smaller seal from?
When I fit them what should they be lubricated with to ensure they are correctly seated and form a good seal?

Have managed through local VX dealer to get a set of seals which look to be an identical size match so I am ready to reassemble. I just need to know what i should use to help lubricate the o rings on reassembly to create a good seal - any ideas? :-/

If it were me, I'd not use anything, or possibly a spot of washing up liquid.  You dont want contaminants in the system as it is a 'closed' system, and anything which shouldn't be there is going to cause issues in the future.

You should use a drop of PAG oil on the seals, this si the oil used in the aircon setup and you will find some of the old stuff (which will do) in the old condensor or dryer

I should add for future reference, the aircon seals can be got at any aircon supplier.

You can even get small kits of seals on ebay
