code 57 idle air control
« on: 05 September 2010, 15:58:58 »

hello again, i have a new intermitant fault on my 2.5 cdx.

when the engine is cold every thing is fine, but after its warmed up you can be slowing down for a roundabout and the engine stops (on a auto this is a pain),
you can restart straight away for it to happen again (usually 4 or 5 times) then it runs fine again for say 30 minutes and then it will stall again for another 4 or 5 times.

i have done a paperclip test with the engine running - all i get is error code 57 - idle air control (fits in with whats happening).

am i right thinking that this is the silver cannister on the passanger side of the plenham, it is seated correctly, any idears ?

thx

Correct

REmove ICV and clean thoroughly with carb cleaner - you may have to do this a couple of times.  Refit and try. :y

The faultcode is worrying. Check the electrical connection to it.

I may be inclined to get a known good 2nd hand one on it...
