Will an aerosol straw in breather system be ok?
« on: 06 September 2010, 21:27:30 »

Hello, today I cleaned the breathers on the MV6, it must be the only weak link on the car because they were minging (cam gaskets ok thankfully).

Anyway, whilst drowing the box on top of plenum with carb cleaner, the straw become trapped inside, and attempts to get it out made it worse! They're unblocked now, but does anyone envisage any problems with this? Thanks

One of the small holes at rear (if you look at it whilst on the car), can't remember which one though. If it does move it can't get in the plenum, and it can't go down the bent hose at rear, so I'm hoping it'll be ok!

the concern is that it will offer a greater restriction and hence is more likely to clog

I'll keep an eye on it till I get a replacement. I couldn't blow through it at all when I got it, but despite the straw it's clear now. There was a load of gunk inside! Silly me, new one required! Thanks again!

I flushed mine with water hose after doing loads and loads of carb cleaner till the crab cleaner was coming out and staying clean.  After the water I blew clean high pressure air and let it stay out before installing the next day.

If it helps to get the straw out.

Cheers.

Tape off the other five holes, get an airline put tape around it so it will seal to the hole in the bottom of the breather,if its not bent in there it might pop up enough for you to get it :y
