best oil filter?
« on: 10 September 2010, 17:50:42 »

hello all..may sound like a daft question but are all oil filters of the same quality ie original vauxhall part vs motor factor part...i am going to change the oil and filter every 6 months and was wondering if there is a difference on how well each version does their job...thanks in advance.....kev

Best option is to get a trade card and buy your oil and filters from the VX dealer.  :y

well aftermarket airfilters have half the surface area of genuine ones.

I would expect oil filters to be of a similarly less quality.

If your doing short changes, this shouldnt matter, if left to service intervals, could matter a lot more.

for the cost, genuine every time for me.

The spin-ons fitted to 4 pots and older v6s are around £1.50 each, the element/cartridge fitted to later v6s are around £3 on TC
