Problems cold starting

My 2.2 has just started giving jip when starting from cold. 1st few starts, it fires up but won't sustain idle. After about 4th start it will sustain roughly for a few secs and then run ok. It doesn't do it every time. Anyone got any ideas? No EML by the way. Thanks in advance.

It seems 2.2's giving jip is the latest fashion lol, might be an idea to get the codes read, or possibly camshaft sensor failing apparently.

There's no codes and the camshaft sensor was replaced less than 5k ago. The annoyance is that it's intermittent.

Was it a genuine Vauxhall part bought from a dealer? Pattern ones are well known for being unreliable :y

2.2's can cause a fair few problems and cam sensor is one but at least there easy easier to work on than a V6 ;)

Yes, genuine VX part. Are there any further diagnostics that you know of that I could try? As I said, no EML. :)

Lets start with a bit more info (might help if you update your profile with the car and your location) :y

Its a 2.2 we know this and it was serviced 5000 miles ago but how many miles on the clock age of car, who did the service, what did they do.

As it ever had the beathers and throttle body cleaned? Fuel filter ever been changed? Previous problems and why you changed the cam sensor etc.

Don't want to give any duff info so the more you give us the better.

OK, Location now Lincolnshire. Car is 02, has now got 65k on the clock. Serviced at 60k by me, had air filter, oil cx, lube

Throttle body and breathers cleaned shortly before that as part of diagnosis for running rough as a bag of nails. In the end had Plugs, Crank sensor, Cam sensor and Air meter cx. Since that time, the motor has only had 2 long runs, one 500 miles, other 250 miles, rest are short runs locally. :)

Check that water isn't getting into the plug wells. The Omega has a known problem with water getting through the wiper spindle seals and the scuttle joint & soaking the soundproofing beneath before dripping/running onto the dis pack plug and under the 'ecotech' dispack cover into the plugwells. If it is this, then the 'fix' is to run a bead of silicon sealant around/along the affected areas.
Also check for oil in the plugwells from a leaking camcover gasket as this will degrade the rubber plug boot on the dispack & cause spark tracking & possible weak spark/misfire.
Check the cam sensor wiring for soundness/security & tightness of the plug connection.
If still no fix, I suggest removing the throttle body & cleaning it .
